A day at the beach

How much fun can you have in six weeks?

I don't know but we are trying to find out.  Everywhere I go, my grandmother asks the following:

WHAT CITY ARE YOU IN?

WHAT COUNTY ARE YOU IN?

WHAT STATE IS THIS?

And then she gives us a history lesson about the area we are in.  Things like the names of the people who were born there before caucasian people decided they wanted to live there.

AFRICAN WORLD FESTIVAL DAY 3

IT'S DAY 3 and we still haven't seen everything there is to see.

Today we visited the table of #GLAAQN.  The initials mean Great Lakes African American Quilting Network.  They are a group of women who love everything there is about quilting.  I made a 9 patch quilt block.  It's so cute!  Here is a quilt that one of the GLAAQN ladies made.  One day, I'm going to make some quilts with the women in my family.  Will you?

After quilting, we stopped and watched a few of the drummers and some dancers as they came on stage and performed.

African World Festival

Day 2 of the #AfricanWorldFestival

So, we're back because there is so much to do!  We saw a rainbow and my Auntie told us to run to the end.  We ran for what felt like an hour and never, ever got close.  It was fun!

There was a lot to see as far as fashion was concerned and so much music that we actually had to come back on the last day.

The #AfricanWorldFestival is the place to be!

One of my favorite places to go every summer is to the African World Festival!  There are so many live concerts and things to do.  This weekend, I'll be sharing some of the things I love about it and a few of the things that I don't.

Today, I watch the lead drummer getting ready for the festivities but tomorrow, I'll be dancing!

I bit the dust!

At gymnastics, I thought I was going to hang upside down but....

Awww man!

We drove for what seemed like hours!  I think I am still tired from going somewhere every day.  My grandma calls them #Staycations.  That means you take day trips to places you've never been before that are less that a days drive from where you live.  Staycations are really cool.  If you've never done it, you should  do it because there are so many things right in your own backyard that I bet you didn't even know were there.

Today, during our staycation drive, we pulled up to the museum.  I was disappointed.  I don't really like museums.  My grandma said, "what do you mean you don't like museums?  I bet you'll like this one!"  "It's made just for children."  Guess what, she was right.

Not only was she right, I learned a lot.  Did you know you can learn a lot of things just by playing?  Like H2O is one part hydrogen and 2 parts oxygen.

I learned about weight and brushed up on things I remembered like gravity, flexibility and the food pyramid.
